The 2020 Sanderson Farms Championship will go on, however, it will be without fans in attendance.
On Monday morning, the annual PGA event’s official Facebook page announced the decision.
The decision does not come as much of a surprise as PGA TOUR Commissioner Jay Monahan has previously stressed the importance of keeping players, staff, and spectators healthy and safe amid one of the worst pandemics the world has ever seen.
“The health and safety of all associated with the PGA TOUR and our global community continues to be our No. 1 priority, and our hope is to play a role—responsibly—in the world’s return to enjoying the things we love,” Monahan said back in April.
This year’s Sanderson Farms Championship will begin on September 28th and end on October 4th. It will be played at the Jackson Country Club.
In last year’s contest, Sebastián Muñoz took home the trophy over former major winners Zach Johnson, Jason Dufner, and Lucas Glover.
