A federal investigation is underway after a small plane crashed in Lauderdale County over the weekend.
Officials said the incident occurred in the unincorporated Zero community on Sunday at 8 p.m. The crash involved a pilot and a passenger. Both unidentified individuals are reported to have exited the aircraft without serious injury.

Preliminary reports indicate that the plane lost engine power and the pilot made an emergency landing. While attempting to land, the aircraft is said to have slid through a tree line.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are looking into the incident.
