Tropical Depression Fred isn’t a direct threat to the Mississippi coast, though residents could feel some tropical force winds as a result of the system Sunday. AccuWeather meteorologists say Fred is threatening to make two U.S. landfalls, both of which could occur in Florida. Damaging winds and coastal flooding are both likely, though forecasters are most concerned by the threat of excessive rainfall and flooding if the storm slows down significantly, as predicted.
