The 13th Annual Radiothon by SuperTalk Mississippi Media raised more than $336,000 for Palmer Home for Children. The 12-hour radiothon event took place yesterday at the Wellness Center on Palmer Home’s campus near Hernando and featured moving testimonies from children, staff, and longtime supporters.
Listeners from across the state tuned in throughout the day as SuperTalk Mississippi programs – Mornings with Richard Cross, MidDays with Gerard Gibert, Good Things with Rebecca Turner, and SportsTalk Mississippi – broadcast live, sharing powerful stories and interviews.
This year’s radiothon was especially meaningful, marking the 13th year of the event and the 130th anniversary of Palmer Home’s mission to serve vulnerable children.
Palmer Home also announced the creation of the Paul Gallo Memorial fund. The fund honors longtime radio host Paul Gallo and celebrated the continuous dedication and passion that he showed to Palmer Home for Children over the past 12 years. Listeners who chose to donate in Paul’s honor will have their funds go directly toward providing opportunities for extracurricular activities that ignite their passions and foster their talents. Funds raised will help cover registration fees, sports equipment, dance attire, music lessons, and other related costs, ensuring that every child has the chance to explore their interests.
The day ended with $336,590.24 raised for Palmer Home for Children. Founded in 1895, Palmer Home serves children ages newborn through 24 years old regardless of race, gender or background through four care settings: Campus Care, Family Care, Foster Care, and Transitional Care.
“We are deeply grateful to SuperTalk Mississippi for their steadfast partnership and generous support in hosting this annual radiothon,” said Drake Bassett, President and CEO of Palmer Home for Children. “For 13 years, this collaboration has helped transform the lives of hundreds of children emerging from crisis. The critical funds raised each year directly support our mission and ensure we can continue providing hope, healing, and a path forward for those who need it most.”
In 2013, SuperTalk Mississippi Media declared Palmer Home for Children as the network’s charity of choice and established the annual radiothon to support the basic operational needs of the organization. Since its inception, the annual event has raised over $3 million for the children at Palmer Home.
“Our yearly radiothon is one of the most cherished traditions for our employees and listeners at SuperTalk,” said Kim Dillon, President and CEO of SuperTalk Mississippi Media. “This year, we proudly celebrate the 13th annual Radiothon, coinciding with the 130th anniversary of Palmer Home for Children. It’s a day where we intentionally ‘pause’ our regular programming to share incredible stories of life transformation. As a privately funded nonprofit, Palmer Home thrives on community support, and we are honored to contribute to this extraordinary mission of providing safe homes for vulnerable children and families in need within our state. Mississippi is often touted as the most generous state in our nation, and we are so humbled by the support we’ve seen for Palmer Home over the past 13 years.”
