A curfew has been put in place in Centreville following a Fourth of July mass shooting that left two dead and seven injured.
Mayor Demetria Allen-Hudson issued the curfew on Wednesday, with it running from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. until further notice. The Centreville Police Department confirmed to SuperTalk Mississippi News that the curfew times will not be modified during weekends.
The gunfire rang out near the Orchard Café on Highway 24 at approximately 12:55 a.m. on July 4. Law enforcement officials say they were notified after multiple gunshot victims arrived by private vehicle at Fields Health System hospital. Nine people had been shot, with two later dying from their injuries.
The deceased were identified as Dekevion Andrews, 19, and Donovan Jackson, 22. Those injured were identified as Jerryon Roger, 20; Cameron Robinson, 18; Latelvin Henyard, 19; and four juveniles ages 14 to 17.
The Centreville Police Department, Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office, and Mississippi Bureau of Investigation are investigating. At this time, no arrests have been announced in this case, though a $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of those responsible.
