As plenty begin to prepare for celebrations honoring America’s semiquincentennial, one state agency is getting in on the action.
The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks announced that seven state parks will be hosting major Fourth of July weekend events in 2026. From star-spangled cookouts to live music and fireworks over the water, MDWFP stated each celebration will be full of red, white, and blue and worth attending.
Celebrations will take place at Roosevelt State Park in Morton, Paul B. Johnson State Park in Hattiesburg, Clarkco State Park in Quitman, Percy Quin State Park in McComb, Buccaneer State Park in Waveland, Trace State Park in Belden, and J.P. Coleman State Park in Iuka.
“Americans have celebrated freedom for 250 years,” MDWFP State Parks Director Andre Hollis said. “This July 4, we invite everyone to celebrate that spirit with us at Mississippi state parks and make memories that will last a lifetime.”
