Fourth Brookhaven murder suspect arrested in Natchez

UPDATE: The last suspect in the Brookhaven home invasion which ended in one woman’s death has turned himself in. Brookhaven Police say that Justin Anderson turned himself in to authorities in Natchez on Monday evening in connection with the murder of Zaria Newton. One of the suspects, Shawan Allen, is dead following a shoot out with police. The other two suspects, Adrian Smith, and Jatavious Berry have already been taken into custody.

ORIGINAL REPORT: One of the four suspects in a deadly home invasion in Brookhaven this weekend is dead and a sheriff’s deputy was shot after gunfire was exchanged this afternoon in Copiah County.

Brookhaven Police Chief Kenneth Collins said Shawan Allen was in a trailer and he shot at law enforcement. Shots were returned and Allen was killed.

The deputy was wearing a bulletproof vest and was not seriously injured.

Two suspects are in custody.  Suspect Adrian Smith was arrested earlier today at the airport in Jackson.
