There’s a new head football coach at Pascagoula High School – someone who’s very well-known across the Coast football scene.
Zach Green was announced by the Pascagoula-Gautier School District as the Panters’ front man on Monday, following the departure of Lewis Sims. Sims had coach Pascagoula for 15 seasons before deciding to step down.
Green most recently served as the defensive coordinator at Gulfport High from 2023-25, helping the Admirals win their first 7A state championship this past season. Before that, he had stints at Ocean Springs High, Biloxi High, Theodore High (AL), Talladega High (AL), the University of West Georgia, and the University of West Alabama. He was a student assistant at Ole Miss during back-to-back Cotton Bowl seasons in 2008 and 2009.
Green will officially take over as head coach at Pascagoula on Jan. 20. He inherits a team that went 6-6, including a 4-1 district mark, and made it to the second round of the playoffs in 2025. Pascagoula competes in MHSAA 6A Region 4.
