A Ridgeland police officer is recovering after being injured in a car crash.
Police Chief Brian Myers said Cpl. Ryan Stacy was involved in the accident on the Natchez Trace on Sunday. The officer is said to have struck a downed tree that had fallen when severe weather struck central Mississippi over the weekend.

Stacy had to be extricated from his vehicle and was transported to a local hospital, where he is currently being treated for serious injuries.
“The Ridgeland PD family asks for your prayers for a speedy recovery for Ryan and prayers for his family during this difficult time,” Myers stated, noting that Stacy has a long road to recovery ahead.
Those looking to assist him in the recovery process can do so by donating to the 1828 Project of Madison County, an organization that supports local law enforcement, or by contacting Lt. Sara Perkins at sara.perkins@ridgelandms.org.
